This paper presents a fuzzy controller design for a nonlinear system. A magnetic levitation system (Maglev) is considered as a case study and the fuzzy controller is designed to suspend a steel sphere ball by means of a magnetic field , counteracting the force of gravity and to be able to apply a controlled disturbance to force the sphere to follow a predetermined trajectory. The control to be applied is the voltage, which is converted into a current via internal circuitry. The current passes through an electromagnet which creates a magnetic field in its vicinity. It has also been observed that the basic design of Maglev's is an arrangement of electromagnets placed on top of the plant and makes the ball levitated in the air. The sphere is placed along the vertical axis of the electromagnet after the control system is started in the software. Fuzzy controller will be implemented here by using MATLAB Simulink as an application tool which provides us the specialized tool boxes for Fuzzy Logic. Magnetic levitation gives it‟s contribution in industry and this system has reduced the power consumption, has increase the power efficiency and reduces the maintenance cost. The common applications for Maglev's are Maglev's Power Generation, Maglev's trains and Maglev's ball bearing less system.
