A New Optimization Algorithm for Solving Optimal Power Flow

This paper States a new and well-Organized method for solving optimal power flow (OPF) problem in power systems. In the proposed approach, Artificial Bee Colony (ABC) algorithm is hired as the main optimizer for optimal adjustments of the power system control variables of the OPF problem. Unique objective functions such as Minimization of fuel costs, total active power loss, improvement of voltage profile, enhancement of voltage stability and all emission cost are selected for this graciously constrained nonlinear non-convex optimization problem. The strength and effectiveness of the proposed method is tested with the Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineering 30 bus system, and the test results are assessed with the results found by other experimental methods reported in the pamphlets newly. The simulation results attained show that the ABC algorithm provides accurate solutions for any type of the objective functions.
